I have absolutely no clue how to start this post, I sat here at my laptop, for about a good 10 minutes trying to figure out exactly how I wanted to phrase it, and the time being very late, only adding to the difficulty. So my apologies if halfway through this stops making any legible sense… :p
I spent the weekend in Canterbury judging at a rhythmic gymnastics competition. For those who don’t know, it is the one defined by elegance and grace, where the gymnast performs a 1 minute 3o seconds dance with an apparatus such as a ribbon, ball, hoop, clubs or rope. Wiki has some more information for those who are still a bit confused.
Stopping gymnastics a year and a half ago, I realized that after my whole life being spent in the gym, suddenly no longer rushing out of school to make it in time for training, no longer having to wake up early on a Saturday, and most importantly no longer feeling part of the gym family, I needed to keep my gymnastic link alive. So I did my judging exam and now take part in competitions as a judge, not only is a little bit of extra income, but the pleasure you get from watching girls you have seen grow as gymnasts from a young age, perform and do amazingly well is immense.
On the first day, all the girls performed their set routines and the ones who got 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th place qualified to compete in the finals on the second day.
Well done to all the girls! You make me very proud :’)
